Lexington residents now have a dedicated spot for popular squishy and fidget toys with the recent opening of Becca’s Treasures. The store, which held its grand opening in September, is located at 604 Northwood Road, operating out of the Key Choice Home Care building.
Rebecca Guerra, owner of Key Choice Home Care, converted a portion of her building previously used for home health aide classes into the new retail space. Guerra and her 26-year-old daughter, Gabby, discussed the idea of opening a store after noticing the high prices of squishy toys online. Gabby serves as the store manager, gaining experience in retail operations.
The store offers a wide array of squishy toys, varying in size, shape, and texture. Many are shaped like food items such as cheese, butter, dumplings, peanuts, and popsicles, while others resemble animals or basic geometric forms. Customers can find between 10 to 15 different squishy brands, with some toys retaining their molded shape and others quickly returning to their original form.
Initially conceived as an e-commerce venture, the store gained significant attention after one of Gabby’s friends created a viral video showcasing the inventory. This unexpected popularity prompted Guerra and her daughter to establish specific hours of operation for the physical location. Guerra noted the positive atmosphere in the store, observing children learning about budgeting as their parents use visits as a reward system.
Official signage for Becca’s Treasures is expected soon, and permanent operating hours will be announced on the store’s Facebook page.
