# South Carolina Swimming and Diving Season Opens Friday

## South Carolina Swimming and Diving Season Begins

The South Carolina swimming and diving team is set to open its 2026-27 season this Friday with a competition against UNCW in Wilmington, N.C. The event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

The Gamecock women’s team enters the new season ranked No. 20 nationally in the CSCAA Division I Preseason Poll. In their previous campaign, the women’s team achieved an undefeated regular season and secured a 19th-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Championships.

Returning NCAA qualifiers for the women’s team include Nora Fluck and Delaney Franklin. Fluck previously finished 32nd in the 1,650 freestyle and 36th in the 500 freestyle. Franklin placed 32nd in the 200 IM and 35th in the 200 breaststroke.

For the men’s team, NCAA qualifier Pierre Largeron is returning. Largeron competed in three events at the NCAA Championships and earned a sixth-place finish in the 500 freestyle at the SEC Championships.

The program has welcomed 25 new members, including 12 transfers, with four joining the women’s team and eight joining the men’s team. Additionally, Jake Shrum has joined the staff as an associate coach, coming from Virginia.

UNCW, the opposing team, is the reigning CAA men’s champion and the women’s runner-up. Seahawks Will Carrico, a senior, and Joseph Busic, a junior, represented their team at the NCAA Championships.
