## Stormwater Infrastructure Upgraded in Watts Mill Area

Stormwater infrastructure improvements have been completed in the Watts Mill area of Laurens. These enhancements include an upgraded stormwater drainage system along Jesse Street and Swygert Street, as well as a detention basin on Gallon Street. The project aims to reduce local riverine flood risks during a 25-year, 24-hour storm event.

Funding for the project came from a $2.3 million award through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Stormwater Infrastructure Program (ASIP) from the South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR). Additionally, at the request of Laurens County, the contractor installed approximately 625 linear feet of new concrete curb and gutter along the southwest side of Swygert Street.

The completion of these improvements was a collaborative effort involving Laurens County, the South Carolina Office of Resilience, KCI Technologies, and HRH Engineering & Construction LLC.
