South Carolina Coach Shane Beamer Addresses Job Security
South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer’s job security is a topic of national discussion following a seventh consecutive SEC loss. Beamer addressed questions about his position and discussions with athletic director Jeremiah Donati after a 49-18 defeat against No. 8 Alabama.
On Sept. 27, Beamer stated his focus is on developing a better plan for the team’s upcoming game against Kentucky. He confirmed a conversation with athletic director Jeremiah Donati occurred 20 minutes before his weekly Sunday call. The Gamecocks, with a 2-2 overall record and 0-2 in the SEC, are scheduled to host Kentucky (3-1, 1-1 SEC) on Oct. 3 at 4:15 p.m. ET, with the game broadcast on SEC Network.
Beamer’s current buyout stands at $27.9 million, which is set to decrease to $22.1 million on Dec. 31. His recent 4-8 season was his least successful at South Carolina. He has lost nine of his last 10 SEC games and seven of his last 11 games against Power 4 teams. In five of the last seven SEC losses, Beamer’s team held a lead at some point, and in two of those games, they led by more than 15 points.
