COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina snapped a long conference drought Saturday, beating No. 16 Florida 38-19 on the road for the Gamecocks’ first SEC victory in more than a year, a result Columbia fans can carry into the bye week.

Quarterback LaNorris Sellers had a hand in five touchdowns. He threw for four scores and 279 yards, with each touchdown pass going to a different receiver, and ran for another.

The day did not start smoothly. Florida scored on its second possession, and cameras caught Sellers and receiver Mazeo Bennett arguing on the sideline in the first quarter after an incompletion on third-and-5 at the Florida 30, followed by a missed field goal.

Sellers answered on the next drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Nyck Harbor, and the game was tied 7-7 after one quarter. Just before halftime he found Bennett for a 15-yard score, and South Carolina took a 17-10 lead into the break.

After a Florida field goal early in the third quarter, the Gamecocks scored 21 unanswered points. The Gators added a late touchdown but missed the two-point try.

The receiving group had been under fire this season after leading the country with 19 dropped passes. South Carolina is now 3-3 and 1-3 in the SEC, with its last league win coming against Kentucky in September 2025.

The Gamecocks are off next week and return to Williams-Brice Stadium on Oct. 24 to host Tennessee.
