Lexington, S.C. — Two restaurant chains are lining up new locations along Sunset Boulevard in Lexington, one of the busiest roads in the Midlands.

Jim N Nicks Bar-B-Q is planning a new restaurant at 5101 Sunset Blvd., on the former Rush site at the Lexington Pavilion shopping complex that includes Target, Best Buy and World Market. About 45,000 cars travel Sunset Boulevard through Lexington each day.

The Alabama-based chain plans a dual-lane drive-thru, and its plans are under review, according to the Town of Lexington September Planning and Zoning Actions report. The town Board of Appearance approved the proposal at its July meeting.

The space was formerly home to a Rush that temporarily closed in 2022 and fully shuttered in 2024. The proposal also includes plans for three murals in addition to signage. An opening date has not been announced.

Nearby, 7 Brew Coffee, a chain with more than 800 U.S. locations, is bringing its first Lexington drive-thru to 5237 Sunset Blvd., near the intersection with Mineral Springs Road. No opening timeline has been announced.

The barbecue restaurant will neighbor Travinia Italian Kitchen, Konnichiwa and Chicken Salad Chick on Sunset Boulevard.
