# Driver, 18, Dies After Tahoe Overturns on US 321 Near Gaston

Gaston, S.C. — An 18-year-old Columbia man died early Sunday after his vehicle ran off U.S. 321 near Woodcote Drive in southern Lexington County, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened about 2:50 a.m. on Oct. 11. The driver of a 2007 Chevy Tahoe was traveling north on US 321 when the vehicle went off the left side of the road.

The Tahoe then went down an embankment and overturned. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead on scene, according to the Highway Patrol.

He was the only person inside the vehicle, and no other cars were involved in the single-vehicle wreck.

The Lexington County Coroner identified the driver on Monday. The Lexington County Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the crash.

US 321 is a main north-south route linking Gaston and the rural southern end of Lexington County with Cayce, West Columbia and the Columbia area.
