LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington County School District One has a new person lined up to run its money. Trustees voted at their Oct. 20 board meeting in Lexington to hire Shelley Sharpe Allen as chief financial officer.

Allen comes over from neighboring Lexington School District Four, where she has been CFO since 2024 and handles budgeting, purchasing, payroll, grant accounting and construction financing.

Her résumé spans more than three decades in school finance and auditing. She led the finance office at Lexington School District Two, spent more than ten years in Richland School District Two, rising to CFO there, and earlier held finance posts with the Chester County School District. Between district jobs she analyzed human resources data for the insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Superintendent Keith Price said Allen understands how to manage a school system’s resources carefully and praised her focus on transparency.

Allen once led the statewide group for school business officials. Lexington One is one of the town’s major employers, and its schools serve neighborhoods such as Saluda River Club off Corley Mill Road.
