LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A 32-year-old West Columbia man was killed early Saturday on westbound Interstate 26 in Lexington County after his motorcycle struck a car and he was then run over by several vehicles whose drivers did not stop.

The wreck happened at about 1:38 a.m. near mile marker 104. The rider was on a 2025 Yamaha traveling west when the motorcycle slammed into the rear of a 2009 Dodge Charger going the same direction, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The impact threw him from the bike, and multiple vehicles then hit him and kept going, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said. He had a helmet on and died at the scene. Those other vehicles have not been identified, and troopers have not said whether anyone in the Charger was hurt.

The Highway Patrol and the coroner are both still investigating. Preliminary state Department of Public Safety figures put the county roadway death toll for 2026 at 26 as of Nov. 1, compared with 33 at that point in 2025.
