Tartan Day South Event in Cayce Honors Celtic Culture

The city of Cayce recently hosted the much-anticipated Tartan Day South event, a four-day celebration that paid homage to the rich traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and England. From April 4 to April 7, attendees were immersed in a world of Celtic culture, music, and activities that captivated visitors of all ages.

An Immersive Experience

The festivities kicked off on April 4 at Steel Hands Brewery in Cayce with an enchanting evening of music featuring the talented performers from Celtic Conundrum. The following day, on April 5, a Celtic concert took place at the Icehouse Amphitheater, featuring renowned bands like Eireann’s Call, Tuatha Dea, and SYR.

Highland Games & Celtic Festival

The highlight of the event was the Highland Games & Celtic Festival held at the Historic Columbia Speedway in Cayce on April 6. Starting at 9 a.m., visitors enjoyed a wide array of activities, including highland athletics, traditional dancing exhibitions, Celtic music performances, mass pip bands, and a mid-day parade featuring Irish bagpipes and various clans.

Other attractions at the festival included sheep and duck dog herding displays, birds of prey exhibitions, a classic British car show, a bustling Celtic marketplace, kiddie rides, Scottish military history presentations, a blacksmith demo, colonial village, and an array of vendors offering unique goods.

Tartan Day South succeeded in creating an immersive and engaging experience for all attendees, allowing them to delve into the vibrant world of Celtic heritage and traditions.
