Prisma Health Expands Urgent Care Network Across South Carolina
Prisma Health has announced an agreement to acquire 36 urgent care locations in South Carolina from Novant Health. This acquisition is expected to be completed on November 1.
Upon completion, these centers will operate under the Prisma Health Urgent Care network. The acquisition includes approximately 500 team members. Prisma Health officials have stated that the vast majority of these urgent care centers will remain open at their current sites, though a small number might be consolidated into nearby locations. Staff affected by any potential consolidations will be offered positions at neighboring centers.
Current patients are assured that they will continue to receive care without interruption during the ownership transition. Patients will maintain access to various services, including walk-in and virtual visits, lab work, X-rays, and respiratory testing. They will also have direct referrals to Prisma Health’s broader system of primary, specialty, and hospital services.
Dr. Jonathan Gleason serves as the executive vice president and chief clinical officer for Prisma Health, and Steven Celestina is the regional vice president of operations for Prisma Health Urgent Care.
