LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher will hold a press conference Friday to announce the cause and manner of death in the Elena Moore case.
The conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. Officials said the briefing will be open only to members of the media.
Moore, 39, was found dead on June 17 under a bridge near Old Cherokee Road and North Lake Drive in Lexington. A body found near Old Cherokee Road and Northlake Drive was identified as Moore.
She was reported missing after she was last seen on June 11 at a Planet Fitness in Lexington. The discovery came after she was reported missing for nearly a week after being discharged from an unspecified facility.
A forensic autopsy was performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, but no cause of death was identified at that time, according to earlier coroner updates. Friday’s announcement is expected to provide the cause and manner of death for the ongoing investigation.
