Lexington, S.C. — The South Carolina Attorney General Office charged Paul Bostrom, Highlands, North Carolina, with exploitation of a vulnerable adult and breach of trust with fraudulent intent after alleging he used a power of attorney to take thousands of dollars from a Midlands victim.
Investigators said Bostrom held power of attorney while the victim lived in an assisted living facility in Lexington and unlawfully converted the victim funds and assets for his own benefit.
Bostrom was arrested Monday, according to the Attorney General announcement covered by local and wire outlets.
The South Carolina Attorney General Office said it will prosecute the case. Charging papers describe the resident as a vulnerable adult under state law because of the assisted living placement during the alleged misconduct.
Coverage of the announcement said the converted funds and assets were valued at more than ten thousand dollars and that the breach of trust count sits at the higher felony threshold.
