CHAPIN, S.C. — Lexington High School’s football team gets back on the field Friday night with a region road game at Chapin, its first action since Oct. 9 and the second-to-last game of the regular season.
Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Chapin High School, one of the Week 10 matchups on the statewide SCHSL slate. The Wildcats come in at 5-3 overall and 1-1 in AAAAA Region 3, good for second place. The Eagles are 5-4 and sit fourth in the region at 1-2.
Lexington’s last outing was a convincing one. The Wildcats won 38-14 at White Knoll on Oct. 9, a week after Dutch Fork handed them a 28-7 loss at home. Before that, Lexington put together four straight wins in September, beating Spring Valley, Emerald and Blythewood along the way.
Chapin has had a rougher month in region play. The Eagles fell 34-25 at River Bluff on Oct. 2 and 21-8 to Dutch Fork on Oct. 9, then broke through with a 46-36 win at White Knoll last Friday.
After Friday, Lexington finishes its regular season at home against River Bluff on Oct. 30, a game that could shape the final region order.
