LEXINGTON, S.C. — A pickup driver was killed and a second motorist was hurt Friday morning when four vehicles collided in Lexington on North Lake Drive at its intersection with Pilgrim Church Road.
Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the wreck happened around 10:20 a.m. A utility truck heading north was turning left onto Pilgrim Church Road, with a Chevrolet Silverado and a Nissan Altima also northbound behind it.
A southbound Kia Sorento swerved to miss the utility truck and slammed head-on into the Silverado, which was then pushed into the Altima. The Silverado driver, alone in the truck, did not survive. The Kia driver, also alone, was hurt. None of the four people riding in the Altima or the utility truck needed treatment.
Lexington Police shut Pilgrim Church Road, Old Cherokee Road and North Lake Drive as troopers worked the scene, then announced later that all three were open again.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the name of the driver who died.
