LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A 32-year-old West Columbia man was killed early Saturday, Nov. 7, on Interstate 26 in the Columbia area of Lexington County after his motorcycle struck the rear of another vehicle and he was then run over by drivers who kept going.
The crash happened at about 1:38 a.m. near mile marker 104 in the westbound lanes, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said. Both the motorcycle and the vehicle it hit were heading west when they collided.
The rider was thrown onto the interstate, where several vehicles hit him. None of those drivers stopped, and they have not been identified. He had a helmet on and died at the scene.
Troopers with the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team of the South Carolina Highway Patrol are working the case, and the coroner’s office in Lexington County is also investigating.
