A Life Well-Lived
Marshall West was born and raised in Marion, SC, where he graduated from Marion High School before embarking on an exciting journey. After completing high school, he pursued higher education at the prestigious Clemson University, graduating in 1970. With a degree in hand, Marshall didn’t waste any time in serving his country; he proudly joined the U.S. Army, fully embracing the spirit of service that would define much of his life.
A Career Dedicated to the Outdoors
After his time in the Army, Marshall devoted the next three decades to nurturing South Carolina’s natural beauty while working for the South Carolina Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. His passion for the outdoors was evident, and he made enduring contributions to the local environment before finally retiring. Retirement, however, didn’t slow him down! He later joined Vesta Builders, still staying active and involved in the community he loved so much.
Faith, Family, and Fishing
Marshall’s commitment to his community was matched only by his dedication to his faith. As an active member of his church, he often volunteered his time and resources, embodying the essence of community service. Fishing was another significant part of Marshall’s life; he was a long-time member of the Midlands Striper Club, where he spent countless hours on the beautiful Lake Murray. This picturesque lake was his second home, where he not only caught fish but also made lasting memories.
Loyal Clemson Fan
Marshall was an avid supporter of Clemson sports, often seen cheering on his beloved Tigers at Death Valley Stadium. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he enjoyed sharing those thrilling moments with family and friends. The spirit of camaraderie and love for the game was always present, making every game-day experience unforgettable.
A Loving Family
Marshall leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Barbara Knight West, who was his partner in life’s adventures. Together, they raised their daughter, Leigh Ann West Parrick, who is happily married to Robert Parrick. The couple is blessed with two grandchildren, Emily Marshall and Robert Miles, who brought immense joy to Marshall’s life.
