Winter Weather Hits the Midlands!

100% chance of precipitation, with a wintry mix that could include freezing rain. So, be cautious out there! Freezing rain can create dangerous road conditions and even downed power lines. It’s going to be a wild ride as the precipitation may begin with snowfall before transitioning into rain. Expect the precipitation to taper off by 1 p.m. on Saturday, but stay alert as conditions change!

With temperatures falling 10 to 15°F below normal, Columbia will be feeling a bit brisk, hovering in the 40s leading up to the storm. Fun fact: the last measurable snowfall we had was back in January 2022, with previous snowdays stretching back to 2017! After all the winter fun this Saturday, it seems that we might just return to dry and chilly conditions.

So, Columbia, with wintry weather and delightful surprises on the horizon, make sure you’re prepared for both. Whether you’re cozying up indoors with a mug of hot cocoa or celebrating Valentine’s Day with a unique gift from the Fireflies, there’s plenty to keep our spirits high this weekend!
