Exciting News for High Schoolers in Columbia: The Cinderella Project 2025 is Here!

Columbia, get ready for a touch of magic! The South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division is thrilled to announce the launch of the Cinderella Project 2025, a heartwarming initiative that aims to provide free prom attire for high school students in need. This wonderful tradition has been running for an incredible 23 years, and it’s all about helping students look and feel their best on one of the most memorable nights of their high school lives.

What is the Cinderella Project?

The Cinderella Project is designed to take the financial stress out of preparing for prom night. It provides fashionable and stylish options for students who might not otherwise have the means to purchase their dream outfits. From stunning dresses to dapper suits, shoes, purses, jewelry, and accessories, the project ensures that every student can step into prom feeling handsome or beautiful.

How Can You Get Involved?

Starting now, the project is accepting donations of new or gently used formal attire. Whether you have a beautiful gown hanging in your closet or a suit that’s still in excellent condition, your contributions can make a world of difference. Donations are being accepted through February 20, 2025, at various locations throughout the Columbia area.

If you’re looking to drop off your donations, one convenient location is the WLTX News19 studios on Garners Ferry Road. There are also numerous other drop-off sites in the area ready to collect your contributions.

Mark Your Calendars for Boutique Events!

The excitement doesn’t stop there! The first Cinderella Project boutique event is set for February 22, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Brookland Baptist Church, located at 1066 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia. Students will be able to sift through a selection of outfits, find the perfect style, and take home their attire for prom night.

Additional boutique events are scheduled as follows:

  • March 1, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at 650 Summer Ave, Orangeburg.
  • March 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Love Covenant Church, located at 245 Oswego Hwy, Sumter.

Students eager to select their outfits at any of these boutique events do not need to pre-register. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that students must be enrolled in a Midlands-area high school and present a valid student ID upon arrival.

A Bit of History

2019, this amazing initiative helped over 800 students find their perfect prom outfits, all thanks to the hard work and dedication of more than 250 volunteers.
