South Carolina Golf Teams Gear Up for NCAA Showdown in Sunny California

As the warm breezes of spring blow through the Carolinas, the excitement in the air is palpable for the University of South Carolina golf teams. They are primed and ready, preparing to take on the challenge of the upcoming NCAA regional tournaments in May. It’s a big moment for both the men’s and women’s teams as they aim for a coveted spot in the NCAA Championships taking place in beautiful Carlsbad, California.

Women’s Team Ready to Swing Into Action

The women’s team kicks things off at the regional competition starting on May 8 in Charlottesville, Virginia. This powerhouse squad is riding high, currently ranked fourth nationally and basking in the glow of being the No. 1 seed for the fifth year in a row. Their spectacular track record is nothing short of impressive, as they have clinched a spot in the regional tournaments for an astonishing 26 consecutive seasons.

Under the savvy guidance of Coach Kalen Anderson, the team has had quite a season, winning three tournaments and rounding out the podium in three more. Fans can look forward to seeing a strong lineup that includes seniors Hannah Darling and Louise Rydqvist, along with graduate Sophia Burnett, sophomore Maylis Lamoure, and freshman Eila Galistsky. This formidable group has been turning the heads of fans and opponents alike!

During the recent SEC tournament, the women’s team showed their skill by winning the stroke-play portion by a whopping six strokes before sealing the deal in match play. The upcoming regional format will test their mettle, featuring 54 holes of stroke play from Monday to Wednesday, where the top five teams will earn a ticket to the prestigious NCAA Championships.

In Charlottesville, the Gamecocks are set to face off against some stiff competition, taking on other top-25 teams like Virginia, Ole Miss, and Florida, alongside individual competitors from Clemson. This will be a true test of their skill and resilience!

Men’s Team Eyes Return to NCAA Championships

May 12 in Bremerton, Washington. They’re not too shabby either, ranked 20th nationally and coming in as the fourth seed in their regional showdown. The men’s team is thirsty for a return to the NCAA Championships, which would be their first since 2019.

Nathan Franks, juniors Frankie Harris and Zach Adams, as well as sophomore Brock Blais. Both Frankie and Nathan have personally stood out, with Frankie boasting three top-five finishes and Nathan adding two to his tally. The competition in Bremerton won’t be easy, as they’ll also be challenged by the likes of Coastal Carolina, which is seeded 12th, and other teams like College of Charleston and Furman, performing their own regional competitions at different sites.

George Bryan, have advanced to the Final Qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Open. On the women’s side, Louise Rydqvist and Eila Galistsky will proudly represent Team International in the anticipated 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup.
