Lexington – Longtime resident Charlie W. Price, Jr., affectionately known as “CW,” passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on May 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, faith, and dedication to family.
Born and raised in Lexington County to the late Charlie W. Price, Sr. and Rilzie Marie Taylor Price, CW Price lived a life marked by commitment to his community and family. He was married to Blanche Harman Price for an impressive 71 years, exemplifying a strong family bond that served as a cornerstone of his life.
For nearly 70 years, CW Price was an integral part of Dunn’s Chapel Church, actively participating in various church roles. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School, and played a significant part as a chairman and member of the Board of Trustees. His commitment to daily devotions and Bible study not only reflected his strong faith but also inspired his family and those within his community.
In 1971, CW Price founded the Charlie Price Paving Company, a venture he managed until his retirement. Alongside his professional achievements, he enjoyed spending time in nature, partaking in activities such as hunting, fishing, and gardening. These hobbies, complemented by his passion for beautifying his yard, showcased his appreciation for the outdoors.
CW Price was known for his deep devotion to his family. He is survived by his children: Karen Price and her husband Joe, Ricky Price and his wife Jan, and Gail Comalander and her husband Lamar. His family tree continued to grow with several grandchildren, including Michele Dukes and her husband Stephan, Jessica Price, Rachel Price, Betsy Price, Candice Joannides and her husband Jason, and Carole Nobles. He also took pride in being a great-grandfather to Abigail Dukes, Melissa Dukes, Rhett Joannides, and Julia Grace Joannides.
CW Price’s family history includes his sister, Jeanette Porth, and his brother, Alastare Price. He was predeceased by his son, Garrett Keith Price, as well as sisters Loree Taylor, Lessie “Boots” Taylor, Judy Brannon, Annis Wingard, and Yvonne Wingard. The family expressed their gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the Agape Lexington Hospice House during CW’s final days.
Visitation to honor CW Price is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Dunn’s Chapel Church in South Congaree.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Building Fund at Dunn’s Chapel Church, located at 281 Chapel Road, West Columbia, SC 29172, in honor of CW Price’s enduring legacy of faith and service.
