Dorry Lytricia Schultz, an esteemed member of the Lexington community, passed away at the age of 86 on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She died peacefully at her home in Lexington, surrounded by her loving family.

Family and Survivors

Dorry is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Cooper and Cindy (Anthony) Keisler. She took great pride in her family, which includes three grandchildren: Kari (Andrew) Robinson, Lauren (David) Foust, and Ben (Sammy) Keisler. Additionally, she enjoyed the company of her five great-grandchildren: Essie, Jessa, and Tripp Foust, as well as Sophie Keisler, with another great-grandchild on the way.

She is also remembered by her two brothers, Ronald (Ina) Hoover and John (Myra) Hoover. Dorry was preceded in death by her children, Sammy Schultz and Sharon Lucas, as well as her granddaughter, Megan Keisler. She also mourned the loss of her sister, Judy Henegar (Bobby), and her cousin Jessalyn Thomas, who held a special place in her heart.

Career and Community Involvement

A dedicated member of the Lake Murray Baptist Church, Dorry served as the church secretary for many years. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her community involvement. Prior to her tenure at the church, Dorry was employed as a secretary to the principal at Lexington High School, where she built a reputation for her professionalism and kindness.

Dorry was a proud graduate of Palmer College, emphasizing the importance of education and hard work throughout her life. Her career not only showcased her administrative skills but also her passion for supporting and guiding the younger generation.

Personal Interests

Family was central to Dorry’s life. She made treasured memories taking annual trips to the beach with her grandchildren during their youth, an experience she cherished deeply. Outside of family activities, Dorry enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and nurturing her collection of indoor plants. Known for her warm smile and steady faith, she left a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege to know her.

Caregivers and Memorials

The family expresses sincere gratitude to her caregivers—Linda, Joan, Jamie, and Rosa—for their loving and compassionate care throughout Dorry’s later years.

Funeral Arrangements

Visitation for Dorry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, at Lake Murray Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Mike McCormick. Burial will take place at Southland Memorial Gardens, located at 700 West Dunbar Rd., West Columbia, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SCOA Cares Foundation, allowing Dorry’s legacy of kindness and community support to continue.
