The City: Former Gamecock MBB Target Cam Scott Released From NLI With Texas

For the past several weeks, South Carolina men’s basketball fans have eagerly anticipated some good news on the recruiting front for Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks, not necessarily from the high school ranks but from the transfer portal. While those efforts have been mainly quiet to this point, at least as far as public information goes, there was an intriguing development on Saturday afternoon from a 2024 prospect that Carolina fans will want to follow moving forward.

Unexpected Twist for Cam Scott

Four-star guard Cam Scott, who signed with the Texas Longhorns on November 8th this past year, was released from his National Letter of Intent as first reported by HERE NEWS. Scott, a Lexington High School product out of Lexington, SC, visited the Gamecocks four times before making his college decision, and in college basketball, it’s essentially an unwritten rule that once a kid commits to a program, coaches from other schools stop recruiting him.

Potential Opportunity for South Carolina

With Cam Scott now available after being released from his NLI with Texas, there may be an opportunity for Lamont Paris and the South Carolina Gamecocks to rekindle their recruiting efforts for the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year. Given Scott’s previous interest in the Gamecocks, it will be interesting to see if they make a strong push to bring him back home.

Support from the Community

South Carolina fans have shown excitement and support on social media following the news of Cam Scott’s release from his NLI. Many are hopeful that the Gamecocks can capitalize on this unexpected opportunity and potentially secure the talented guard for their program.

Looking Ahead

As the recruiting process unfolds for Cam Scott in the coming days, it will be crucial to monitor any potential developments regarding his interest and possible visits to schools, including South Carolina. With the transfer portal playing a significant role in college basketball recruiting, anything is possible as teams look to bolster their rosters for the upcoming seasons.

Stay tuned to HERE NEWS for the latest updates on Cam Scott’s recruitment journey and other college basketball news.
