Mark your calendars, friends! The charming Town of Irmo is rolling out the pink carpet for its highly anticipated 8th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival on March 22, 2025. Get ready for a delightful day filled with fun, culture, and a stunning showcase of nature that runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the scenic Irmo Town Park, located at 7330 Carlisle Street, Irmo, S.C.

Celebrating Nature and Culture

The festival isn’t just about admiring the beautiful blossoms; it’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone to appreciate and understand the rich tapestry of nature and Japanese culture. Six gorgeous Yoshino cherry trees, which were lovingly planted back in 2001, will be putting on a spectacular show, making the day even more special.

Prepare for a day packed with exciting activities! Attendees can indulge in blossom viewing, browse through various food vendors, and explore handcrafted artworks that showcase artistic talents. Expect to see wire bonsai trees, kimekomi fabric balls, kinchaku bags, and captivating amigurumi crochet creations that reflect Japan’s artistic flair.

Feeling peckish? Be sure to tantalize your taste buds with Japanese teas and traditional treats like wagashi, a sweet delicacy made of white bean paste that is as delicious as it sounds!

If you need a break from all the excitement, visit the Relaxation Station sponsored by Mahou Massage where you can kick back and enjoy a relaxing chair massage. The festival promises a variety of experiences for all ages and interests.

Doteki Club, which will be promoting its anime-appreciation club at the festival. And for manga lovers, representatives from the Irmo Branch Library will be on hand to showcase their exciting manga selections and discuss related programs.

Artistic Performances

Yuko Kimura performing beloved jazz standards and traditional Japanese folk songs at 11:00 a.m.. Later in the day, catch an electrifying drumming performance by Taiko Charleston at 1:00 p.m., guaranteed to get your heart racing!

Festivities for All

Car Enthusiasts Unite!

Japanese Import Car Drive-In from 9:00 a.m. to noon, culminating in an awards ceremony at noon. Thanks to Buck’s Speed Shop for hosting this exciting event! The top show winners will be rewarded with gift certificates from Camon Japanese Restaurant.

Fun for Kids

Make Us Visible SC is hosting a playful coloring station for kids, while Artistic Aspirations of Irmo provides a craft table where young hands can paint kokeshi dolls and craft other fun creations!

Learn and Explore

Mid-Carolina Camellia Society, offering insights into camellias originating from Japan, as well as a hands-on flower-arranging station hosted by Ikebana International Chapter 183. A booth by the Japan America Association of South Carolina will provide fascinating educational content available in both Japanese and English.
