Family Life and Personal Background

Linda was born on April 18, 1949, to Leroy Springs and Carolyn Perry Croxton in Lancaster, South Carolina. She was married to E. Earle Davis for 54 years, celebrating their anniversary just weeks before her passing on June 12, 2025. An Educator’s Journey

Linda’s dedication to education began early. She graduated with honors from Kershaw High School in 1967 and continued her studies at the University of South Carolina’s Lancaster Extension. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from USC Columbia in December 1970. Linda kicked off her teaching career at Lexington Elementary School, where she made a significant impact from the early 1970s until 1978. Following her time there, Linda taught at various private preschools, predominantly as a Kindergarten teacher.

In 1986, Linda co-founded the South Lake Child Center, where she managed operations until 1996. After stepping away from early childhood education, she transitioned into the optical field, collaborating with several optometrists until her retirement in 2013.

Community Involvement and Personal Interests

Linda’s engagement extended beyond her career; she was a dedicated member of Lexington Presbyterian Church since shortly after its founding in 1974. She was actively involved in numerous church circles, serving as President of the Women in Church (WIC) and holding various leadership roles. Her love for music was evident as she was a long-time choir member, although she had to step back due to vocal cord damage.

Additionally, Linda played a significant role in the Lexington Jaycee Wives organization, where she also held the position of President. Her contributions and leadership were recognized and appreciated by her friends and colleagues over the years.
