Lexington County Sees Motorcycle Tragedies Resulting in One Fatality and Three Injuries

Lexington County, S.C. – Two tragic motorcycle incidents occurred within a day in Lexington County, leaving one person dead and three others injured. The accidents highlight increasing concerns about motorcycle safety in the region.

Incident Details

The first incident took place on Saturday afternoon around 3:20 p.m. on I-20 near Longs Pond Road, east of Gilbert. A motorcyclist was fatally struck when a vehicle veered off the road and crashed into four Harley Davidson motorcycles that were parked on the shoulder of the highway under the Longs Pond Road overpass. One rider was pronounced dead at the scene while three others were transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital, although their conditions have not been disclosed. Fortunately, the four occupants in the vehicle that caused the crash were unharmed.

The second incident occurred the previous night, Friday at approximately 10:30 p.m., involving 43-year-old David Eric Jones of Chapin. Ongoing Investigations

Both incidents are currently under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the local coroner’s office.
