Lexington, SC – The Lexington Police Department is seeking assistance from the public to identify multiple alleged shoplifting suspects involved in two separate incidents. The department has reported incidents occurring at local retail environments, Circle K and Walmart, with significant thefts prompting law enforcement to reach out for community support in resolving the cases.
Shoplifting Incident at Circle K
Officers are investigating an incident that occurred at Circle K on Augusta Road, where two suspects allegedly paid for one item but concealed additional unpaid items in a shopping bag. The thieves fled the scene in a tan Chevrolet Avalanche. Authorities have not disclosed the specific items stolen or their total value, but they are actively working to gather more information on the suspects, including details that could lead to their identification.
Walmart Theft Involving Multiple Suspects
In a separate incident on December 9, 2024, police reported that three suspects stole merchandise valued at over $2,000 from Walmart. Detectives believe they have identified two of the three individuals involved using license plate information. However, they are still working to identify the third suspect, who was wearing a multi-color “Hilfiger” polo shirt at the time of the theft. Anyone who has information regarding this case is urged to contact Detective Williamson at 803-358-1514 or via email at jwilliamson@lexsc.gov.
PlayStation 5 Theft from Walmart
Further complicating matters, on April 23, 2025, three suspects were involved in stealing five PlayStation 5 gaming consoles, valued at over $2,200, from Walmart. The suspects fled the scene in a silver Dodge Avenger with out-of-state license plates. Corporal Tomaino has been assigned to this case and is encouraging anyone with information to reach out to him at 803-359-6260 or mtomaino@lexsc.gov. An anonymous tip can also be submitted through Midlands Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC for a potential cash reward.
Recent Arrest Linked to Shoplifting and Trafficking
In an unrelated incident, 60-year-old Faron Lee Brown was arrested in connection with a shoplifting charge at a Dollar General store in another county. Brown faced a range of charges, including shoplifting enhancement, identity fraud, and meth trafficking, stemming from an incident on March 10 at the Dollar General located at 6025 Columbia Road, in the St. Matthews area. Surveillance footage played a critical role in identifying him, leading to his eventual arrest.
During his arrest, authorities discovered 16 grams of methamphetamine hidden in the engine compartment of his vehicle. Brown was subsequently brought before a court on March 13, where his bond was set at $450,000. He had been out on bond from previous arrests, including charges of resisting arrest and third-degree domestic violence, which indicate a concerning pattern of legal issues.
Previously, in September 2023, Brown’s bond for resisting arrest was set at $25,000. Furthermore, in September 2024, he faced additional accusations, including third-degree domestic violence and failure to appear regarding identity fraud charges, with a combined bond also set at $5,000.
Community Involvement Requested
The Lexington Police Department emphasizes the importance of community involvement in addressing these criminal activities. Law enforcement encourages individuals with any information about the shoplifting incidents or related cases to come forward, as their contribution may play a vital role in enhancing public safety and aiding in the apprehension of suspects.
As investigations continue, residents of Lexington and surrounding areas are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
