Major Recognition in Midlands Golf Scene for 2025
It’s been an impressive year for the young golfers in the Midlands! With the 2025 Midlands All-Area Boys Golf Team announcement just made, the spotlight shines bright on the top players who showcased their golfing talents throughout the season.
Co-Players of the Year
This year, the honor of Co-Players of the Year has been awarded to two outstanding individuals: Harrison James of Chapin and Charles Cauthen from AC Flora. Both players demonstrated remarkable skills and consistency, earning them this well-deserved title.
Fan Favorite Shines
In a fun twist, this year’s Readers’ Choice for Player of the Year, chosen through a fan vote, goes to the young prodigy Connor Wolfe from Heathwood Hall. As an eighth grader, Connor has set the bar high with his incredible performance on the greens.
Stellar Performances from Top Players
Let’s take a look at some other notables! Marcus Bradley from Hammond, just a sophomore, has made waves with a scoring average of 36 in nine-hole matches and an impressive 71 in 18-hole matches. He finished fourth at the SCISA 4A golf championship, showcasing his incredible potential.
Next, we have Nathanael Caughman from River Bluff, who, as a senior, tallied up a scoring average of 74.9. His skills led River Bluff to their first state title, where he finished as the runner-up in the Class 5A Division I championship. With an eye toward the future, Nathanael has already signed to play at Columbia International, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
From AC Flora, we cannot overlook Charles Cauthen, who has shown exceptional talent with a scoring average of 71.6. Being the medalist in three tournaments and finishing sixth at the Class 4A state championship is no small feat. He’s also signed to play at Kentucky, which shows that his hard work is truly paying off.
Another standout is Teddy Dunn from Gray Collegiate. Averaging a score of 72, Teddy was the medalist at the Class 4A Lower State championship and finished 10th at the state tournament, securing his signed contract with Mercer for college golf.
Following closely is Harrison James, who matched his peers with a scoring average of 72.2. With medals in four tournaments, including the Region 4-5A championship, Harrison dazzled with a breathtaking 7-under 65 at the Class 5A Division II Lower State and later secured a spot at Coastal Carolina.
More Talented Teens
Selecting only a few among the greats shouldn’t overshadow others’ incredible performances; just look at Dylan Leicht from Lexington, who had a nine-hole scoring average of 37.1 while tying for 13th at the Class 5A Division I state championship and making it to the North-South All-Star team.
Grant Paolucci of Blythewood also made headlines with his scoring average of 73 and co-medalist title at Class 5A Division I Upper State. He finished 11th at the state championship before being selected for the North-South All-Star team, where he has already committed to play at Army.
Adding to the excitement, James Rhodes, another prolific golfer from AC Flora, averaged a score of 74.1 and finished eighth at the Class 4A state championship, also joining the North-South All-Star team where he signed to play at Presbyterian.
Rounding Out the Top Rankings
Let’s not forget about the talented newcomers like Brady Senn from Gilbert and others, marking their place amid well-established names. Young talents such as Connor Wolfe continue to impress everyone with their skills and potential.
