Columbia Ready to Celebrate at Five Points St. Patrick’s Day Festival

Get your green gear ready, Columbia! The Five Points Association has just unveiled a lineup that’ll make this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival one to remember, scheduled to take place on March 15th. This annual celebration promises a fun-filled day for all ages, featuring lively music from local artists, exciting activities for kids, and a splash of new offerings.

Festival Highlights

This year’s festival kicks off bright and early at 7:30 a.m. with a popular 5k/10k race – a great way to sweat off that corned beef and cabbage! For those who prefer their festivities to be a bit more leisurely, the festival officially opens its gates at 10 a.m., coinciding with the vibrant St. Pat’s Parade and the launch of the Pot O’ Gold Playland for children. This is where the little ones can jump around and enjoy various fun activities specifically designed to keep them entertained!

New Features to Look Forward To

Mocktail Lounge! You can relish in festive beverages without the alcoholic buzz. Please don’t forget, this event is going to be a cashless affair, so make sure to pack your cards for all transactions.

Safety First!

As much as the fun is important, safety is a top priority! Festival organizers have teamed up with local law enforcement for traffic control and safety monitoring throughout the event. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, there are a few guidelines to keep in mind: no weapons, no pets, and of course, be sure to carry a clear bag as part of the policy. Families with strollers will have designated re-entry points for convenience.

Eco-Friendly and Charitable Efforts

$55,000 was donated to charity, and it’s expected to top that number this year!

Access and Transportation

SC State Fairgrounds, where you can leave your vehicle for free! Shuttles will be zooming back and forth from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the day of the festival to whisk you to and from the festivities. Speaking of getting to the festival safely, it’s strongly encouraged to have a designated driver if you plan on enjoying adult beverages.

Kickoff Event

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the main fountain plaza in Five Points. It’s a perfect way to start the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations right!

Expectations are High

30% increase in attendance, organizers are optimistic that this year will exceed expectations. David Britt, the chair of the St. Patrick’s Day Five Points Festival, is leading the charge in his second year and is excited about what lies ahead. So mark your calendars, bring your empty water bottles, and prepare for an exciting St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the heart of Columbia!
