Lexington, SC – Lexington County School District One is launching an initiative this summer to provide free nutritious meals for all enrolled students through the USDA Summer Meals Program. The program aims to ensure that children have access to healthy food options during the summer months when school is not in session.

Meal pick-up is scheduled for four dates: June 11, June 18, June 25, and July 2. Families can pick up meals between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at designated locations such as Centerville Elementary School in Gilbert, Deerfield Elementary School in Lexington, and Pelion Middle School in Pelion.

To participate in the program, parents and guardians must sign up for meal services through the ParentSquare app. Sign-up periods are organized by pick-up dates, allowing families to register their children within specific time frames:

  • June 5 – June 8 for the June 11 pick-up
  • June 12 – June 15 for the June 18 pick-up
  • June 19 – June 22 for the June 25 pick-up
  • June 26 – June 29 for the July 2 pick-up

Parents and guardians are required to sign up every student in their household who will be receiving meals. If children are not present during the pick-up, documentation will be necessary to verify their relationship to the adult picking up the meals. Acceptable forms of documentation include:

  • Enrollment listed in the ParentSquare App
  • Student identification cards
  • Report cards
  • Birth certificates
  • Legal guardianship paperwork

Documentation can be submitted digitally by capturing photos on a mobile device, making it easier for families to participate.

Program Goals

The Summer Meals Program is designed to combat food insecurity among children during the summer months. Lexington County School District One remains committed to ensuring that students have access to healthy meals even when school is out of session.
