LEXINGTON, S.C. — An unnamed manufacturer known only as Project Vision is lining up a plant in Lexington County that would create 150 jobs and carry a $10 million investment, after county leaders took their first votes on a tax deal for it Tuesday.
Lexington County Council unanimously passed Resolution 26-06, which identifies the project so its spending can qualify for a fee in lieu of regular property taxes. Councilwoman Charlene Wessinger made the motion and Councilman Michael Bishop seconded it.
Members also gave first reading, by title only, to Ordinance 26-17, which would lock in the fee arrangement and a special source revenue credit for the company. Councilman Todd Cullum moved it forward, again without opposition.
Project Vision will be folded into a joint industrial and business park the county shares with Calhoun County. In committee earlier that day, council members approved Resolution 26-05 to add 39.69 acres on the Calhoun side to that park, and they also granted a right-of-way to Dominion Energy.
Council returns for its next regular session on Nov. 4, a Tuesday, starting at 4:30 p.m. in the county’s administration offices at 212 S. Lake Drive.
