LEXINGTON, S.C. — Early canvasses from Tuesday’s ballot are lining up the next trustees who will steer school policy across Lexington County, with certification still ahead.
Lexington One opened three board chairs to eight contenders. Shealy collected 16,608 ballots to lead, Homesley followed with 15,004, and Rice held the third spot at 14,873. Yonce was fourth at 13,840.
Lexington Two’s three-seat field had Alford-Wooten out front at 8,846 and McGill next at 6,685. For the last chair, Key’s 6,307 leaves King 138 behind at 6,169 — a gap small enough that recount rules can kick in.
District Three returns listed Burgess, Gunter and Oswald. District Four listed Frick, Sutton and Jeffcoat, with Jeffcoat’s early cut at 1,811.
Lexington County’s two seats on the Lexington-Richland Five board showed Gilbert at 9,846 and Rice at 9,573, ahead of Phelps and Justice.
County election offices target Friday after Election Day for certification, so the published leaders remain provisional until then.
