Irmo Mayor Selected for Executive Board of Central Midlands Council of Governments

Irmo, SC – April 3, 2024 – Town of Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson has been selected to serve on the Executive Board of the Central Midlands Council of Governments (CMCOG). His appointment comes after six months of dedicated service on the council and was made by COG Chairman and City of Columbia Councilman Will Brennan.

Mayor’s Statement

“It has been my honor and pleasure serving as the Town of Irmo’s representative on the Central Midlands Council of Governments since last October. I am humbled and privileged to be elevated to such an important role so early in my tenure,” Mayor Danielson expressed.

CMCOG’s Mission

The CMCOG’s primary mission is to provide top-quality planning, technical assistance, and services to local governments, businesses, and citizens in the Central Midlands region. With a population exceeding 769,000, the CMCOG serves as a regional forum where local officials collaborate to pursue common goals and address regional concerns.

Executive Director’s Appreciation

Britt Poole, CMCOG Executive Director, shared his appreciation for Mayor Danielson’s active participation and valued contributions during his tenure on the council. “I have enjoyed interacting with Mayor Danielson since his appointment to the Central Midlands Council of Governments Board. He has been active and a valued member. I look forward to continuing to work with the mayor in his new role on the Executive Committee as we endeavor to advance the Midlands of South Carolina.”
