LEXINGTON, S.C. — Students at Pleasant Hill Elementary School in Lexington, S.C., used their car line for something different on Wednesday, Oct. 28, turning it into a drive-thru where local law enforcement officers and emergency medical crews could be thanked in person for National First Responders Day.
As the officers and medics rolled through the line, children passed them small gifts and held up signs they had drawn by hand. The school’s service learning students planned the event as a way to honor the people who keep their community safe.
Pleasant Hill Elementary is at 664 Rawl Road in Lexington and is part of Lexington County School District One. It serves children from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
Federal school data show the school enrolled 846 students in the 2024-25 school year, with 63.6 full-time classroom teachers, or about 13 students for each teacher.
