Columbia, South Carolina – A University of South Carolina graduate turned his passion for glass blowing into a successful business.

A graduate from the University of South Carolina, Tom Lockart, transformed his love for glass blowing into a thriving venture known as One Eared Cow Glass. With over 30 years in the industry, Lockart continues to inspire his community with his artistic creations.

Passion into Business

One Eared Cow Glass was established in 1991 after USC discontinued its glass blowing program, prompting Lockart and his fellow classmates to pave their own path. Facing limited options for advanced glass education, they decided to open their studio right out of college.

The original studio was situated in a barn in Bishopville, generously provided by one of Lockart’s business partners’ families. After three years, they relocated the studio to Columbia, where Lockart remains as the sole original owner of One Eared Cow Glass.

Creative Process

Every day at One Eared Cow Glass kicks off with the question, “What are we making?” The answer varies based on factors like the availability and quality of molten glass and order deadlines. The team crafts a diverse range of glass pieces, from large custom orders to smaller studio creations.

Working with molten glass at 2,100 degrees demands precision and dedication. Whether producing six to seven large pieces or crafting 30 to 40 smaller items, the artisans at One Eared Cow Glass consistently deliver high-quality artwork.
